Darryl was interviewed by Boy Abunda in the latter’s online show “The Interviewer”. The said video, which was uploaded on Abunda’s YouTube channel, already has more than 250,000 video views since it premiered.

In the said interview, Darryl shared that he finds the veteran director “selfish” in his comments about his latest movie, which earned PHP 21 million on its first day at the cinemas as announced by VIVA Films last August 4.

He shared that he’s starting to cast doubt if the veteran director is “really magaling” following his comments about the said film.

Noong unang narinig ko yun, kinilig ako. Pero habang nagsi-sink in sa akin, I’m starting to think if he’s really magaling. I’m starting to think it that way,” he said. “Ako inisip ko, itong manglilikha ng pelikulang ito, na idolo ko, nagsasalita sa pelikula ko na una hindi pa niya napapanood, pangalawa hindi pa tapos.

Darryl went on to pour out his emotions about Direk Joel in the said interview, saying that he finds the veteran director “very selfish”.

To recall, Direk Joel said during the campaign launch of Never Again, Never Forget ML50 last July 21 that he sees Darryl’s film as “a distortion of the actual events in the past”.

The veteran director also said at that time that he would watch “Maid in Malacañang” and will do a counterpart movie after watching it.

Joel Lamangan

When Abunda said that Direk Joel will watch “Maid In Malacanang”, Darryl said that it’s the only thing Direk Joel said that was good.

Sana nauna niyang sinabi yun bago siya na-comment. The damage is really in his part. I don’t get it. Joel Lamangan na siya,” he said.
