Update on Earthquake Abra Death Toll by NDDRMC
EARTHQUAKE ABRA – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) revealed the death toll due to the 7.3 magnitude quake.
Even experts share a common sentiment that earthquakes can hardly be predicted. Although there are theories, the accuracy of when they would happen, their intensity, and the places that may be affected are in question. Thus, preparations through awareness of what to do in case it happens is really an edge.
In fact, most schools and companies situated in buildings really make sure that earthquake drills are conducted so the students or employees would know what to do if a quake happens.
Recently, a strong quake jolted Abra. The earthquake Abra was initially recorded at 7.3 magnitude before the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) downgraded it to 7.0.
Recently, amid the ongoing rescue operations, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) gave an update on the death toll of the earthquake Abra.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, NDDRMC said that the earthquake Abra death toll has reached 5. As of this writing, 64 people were reported to have been injured due to the quake.
Out of the five (5) casualties of the quake, two (2) people were from Benguet, one (1) from Kalinga, one (1) from Abra, and one (1) from Cagayan province. The victim in Benguet was a construction worker who was hit by falling debris.
According to Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr., 218 towns in 15 provinces were affected by the quake. These provinces are in Regions 1 and 2 and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR). The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) assured the victims in the epicenter of the quake of help.
