Adamson University (AdU) is a private, Catholic coeducational basic and higher education institution run by the Congregation of the Mission in Manila.

The university has academic programs in graduate school, law, the liberal arts, sciences, engineering, nursing, pharmacy, architecture, business administration, and education, as well as secondary, elementary, and preparatory education.

Earlier, the South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that a university head in China was fired for allegedly sending 22 teachers to Adamson University to earn “instant” PhDs in 28 months, then rehired them to boost the ranking of the Chinese university.

A Doctor of Philosophy is the most common degree at the highest academic level awarded following a course of study.

PhDs are awarded for programs across the whole breadth of academic fields.

Apparently, Adamson denied the said report.

The said university stressed that it adheres to the policies, guidelines, and standards set by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) regarding PhD offerings.

“The questionable practices and improprieties allegedly committed by the President of Shaoyang College do not reflect inadequacies in the credibility and legitimacy of Adamson University’s educational programs nor do they signify Adamson University’s involvement in such malpractice or misconduct,” it noted.

Adamson University clarified that it has no connection with Shaoyang University.

Meanwhile, CHED will evaluate the report of SCMP.
