A whopping $36,000 was found by a woman from a sofa set she got for free
CALIFORNIA – A woman found a whopping $36,000 (P1.9 million) worth of money inside a sofa that she got for free from a website.
Craigslist is an American classified advertisements website with sections devoted to jobs, housing, for sale, items wanted, services, community service, gigs, résumés, and discussion forums.
One may find free stuff on the said platform such as TVs, couches, pianos, clothes, music CDs, firewood, grills, mattresses, and toilets.
But a woman in California was more than lucky after discovering a bunch of money from the sofa set she got for free from Craigslist.
A certain Vicky Umodu shared in an interview that she needed cheap furniture for her new home. Luckily, she found a sofa set on Craigslist.
Then, they picked it up and brought it to their new home.
She was shocked after finding envelopes full of money. Apparently, she did not mention what specific spot she found the envelopes containing $36,000 or approximately 1.9 million pesos.
“I was just telling my son, ‘Come, come, come!’ I was screaming, ‘This is money!’ I need to call the guy,” she told her son.
The woman call the people who gave her the sofa and told the owner what she had discovered. She also returned the money.
But according to the family who previously owned the sofa, they didn’t know there was money in it because they were decluttering some of their stuff, that’s why they decided to give the sofa set for free.
They are thankful to Umodu for being honest by returning the money. In return, she was given $2,000 to buy a refrigerator for her new house.
