Senate President Tito Sotto compares the case of Lolo Narding and Jose Antonio Sanvicente
TITO SOTTO – The incumbent Senate President took to social media wherein he expressed his frustration with how the police treated hit and run suspect Jose Antonio Sanvicente.
It was on June 15 when Sanvicente surrendered to the authorities and apologized for ramming security guard Christian Floralde at the intersection of Julia Vargas and St. Francis Street last week. Apparently, the police did not arrest him.
Sanvicente was accompanied by his parents and lawyer when he appeared before a press briefing at Camp Crame in Quezon City on Wednesday afternoon.
Sotto went to Twitter wherein he questioned President Rodrigo Duterte about the Philippine justice system.
His post was accompanied by the caption: “Kapag mahirap nagnakaw ng bayabas kulong agad! What’s happening to our country Mr President?”
Attached to his tweet is the statement of journalist Karen Davila who aired her frustration after the PNP only sent Sanvicente home when he confessed his crime.
Sotto also shared the Anti Drunk and Drugged Driving Law which requires hit and run suspects like Sanvicente to undergo a drug test.
Meanwhile, it was in January this year when an 80-year-old Lolo Narding Floro made headlines after he was arrested for allegedly stealing mangoes from his neighbors in Asingan, Pangasinan. He said he picked the fruits because as far as he knows, it was covered by the land he owned.
Some netizens are comparing the case of Sanvicente to Lolo Nardine, on how PNP treated the two.
