Nora Aunor is now a national artist
SUPERSTAR NORA AUNOR – President Rodrigo Duterte declared the award-winning actress a National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts.
The multi-awarded star whose real name is Nora Cabaltera Villamayor is an actress, recording artist, and film producer.
She’s dubbed as “The Grand Dame of Philippine Cinema” by Hollywood Reporter for her performance in the movie Taklub and her contribution to the Philippine film industry.
Aunor started her career as a singer, after winning a local talent search. She debuted on film via All Over the World (1967).
Through the years, she had been part of more or less 175 movies in her 45 years as an artist.
She has received different citations coming from notable award-giving bodies such as; FAMAS, Gawad Urian Awards, PMPC Star Awards, Metro Manila Film Festival, Asia Pacific Screen Awards, Asian Film Awards, and to name a few.
Meanwhile, President Duterte declared Nora Aunor as one of the National Artists of the Philippines for Film and Broadcasting/Broadcast Arts.
The actress was among those who were declared National Artist based on Proclamation No. 1390.

Also joing the list of 2022 national artists are late film director Marilou Diaz-Abaya, the late stage director Tony Mabesa, the late fashion designer Salvacion Lim-Higgins, dance choreographer Agnes Locsin, poet Gémino Abad, musician Fides Cuyugan-Asensio and screenwriter Ricky Lee.
Aside from the title of National Artist, Nora Aunor and the others also received a life insurance policy coverage, state funeral, monthly stipend worth P50,000, cash award worth P200,000, and medical hospitalization benefits.
