SUSAN ROCES – The showbiz industry is mourning the passing of the multi-awarded actress.
Dubbed as the “Queen of Philippine Movies”, Roces passed away on Friday night, May 20 at the age of 80.
It was confirmed by her daughter Senator Grace Poe.
Celebrities have extended their sympathy for her sudden demise.

Susan Roces’s real name is Jesusa Purificacion Levy Sonora-Poe.
She was born to a French American mother of Jewish descent and a mestizo father of Spanish and Chinese descent.
Her showbiz career started when she starred in the movie Mga Bituin ng Kinabukasan.
Eventually, her career skyrocketed, starring in more than 130 films in her career that spanned 70 years.
In fact, she was once regarded as the foremost leading lady of local cinema. She has starred in several iconic Filipino movies such as Ang Daigdig Ko’y Ikaw, Gumising Ka Maruja, Patayin Mo sa Sindak si Barbara, and Mano Po.
Through the years, she already received various awards and citations. She has won 5 FAMAS Awards including two Best Actress wins. She was also honored by FAP Awards with a Lifetime Achievement Award for her long-standing career and contribution to Philippine cinema.
Aside from that, she was honored by the Philippine Post Office with a stamp after being recognized as one of the ten outstanding Filipinos.
Her last project on television was via the ABS-CBN’s longest running teleseryes, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano wherein she portrated the role of Flora “Lola Kap” S. Borja-de Leon, the grandmother of Cardo Dalisay (Coco Martin).
Susan Roces was the widow of Fernando Poe Jr., who died in 2004.
