Raffy Tulfo: “We ask President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to declare a national day of mourning on the day of her burial.”
RAFFY TULFO — The broadcaster and senator-elect urged President Rodrigo Duterte to honor the passing of veteran actress Susan Roces by declaring her burial day as a “national day of mourning”.
He also recommended that Susan Roces be recognized as a national artist posthumously.
In a statement on Saturday, he said that his wife, ACT-CIS Representative Jocelyn Tulfo, will file a House Resolution next week extolling Susan Roces’ legacy and recommending her nomination for posthumous National Artist honors.
Raffy, on behalf of his family, also extended his condolences to incumbent Senator Grace Poe and those who “loved and adored” the late actress.
“Few celebrity icons are as loved as Ms. Susan Roces. Hindi mawawaglit sa alaala naming mga taga-hanga niya ang kanyang ‘di mabilang na mga pelikula, programang pang-telebisyon, at patalastas,” he added.
Senator-elect Raffy Tulfo’s statement came after Senator Grace Poe confirmed the death of the veteran actress, who was also known as the “Queen of Philippines Movies”.

In a family statement, it said that the veteran actress “passed away peacefully” on Friday evening and was “surrounded by love and warmth” of her relatives.
Malacañang, meanwhile, condoled with the family of Susan Roces, whose death is “truly a big loss” for the Filipino people.
In a statement on Saturday, Communication Secretary and acting Presidential Spokesperson Martin Andanar said that the Palace would like to extend its deep condolences to the family, loved ones, close friends, and colleagues on the passing of Susan Roces.
According to Andanar, the passing of the veteran actress “is truly a big loss not only to the local entertainment industry but to all the people whose lives the beloved icon had touched and affected”.
The Palace joined all the other government officials, personalities, and celebrities who mourned the passing of Susan Roces.
