During an interview on DZBB, COMELEC Commissioner George Erwin Garcia said that the transmission of 2022 election returns has been fast.

The COMELEC commissioner also attributed the fast transmission of 2022 election results to the improved services of telecommunication companies in the country.

Nabakabilis na po ng pagpapadala. At the same time wala na po nabulunan. We learned from our experience in 2019 na may nabulunan. Ngayon po walang nabulunan,” Garcia said. “Di ba po kahit sa atin sa internet e mas mabibilis na po yun depende kung ano yung ia-avail mo na mbps.

ABS-CBN News reported that based on the data Garcia shared with the media, more than 80,000 were able to transmit data within 4 hours after the end of the voting hour of 7:00 pm. While, in 2016 and 2019, it took 6 and 7 hours more, respectively.

COMELEC Commissioner Marlon Casquejo told reporters that the fast transmission of 2022 election returns can be attributed to the preparations made by the poll body.

Among these, Casquejo said that there was “enhanced terms of reference in the transmission contract” among others which includes media server in order to prevent 7-hour glitch.

Casquejo added that there’s a “stress test” of the 106,174 VCM (vote counting machine) using “dummy test data sending simultaneously”.

During prelat (pre logical accuracy test) we include test of transmission package in all VCM which we did not do in previous election,” Casquejo cited. “During fieldtest and mock election we use the actual data center to test its connectivity.

Casquejo also cited, among others, the early procurement and establishment of data centers as well as the repairs of the VCM transmission USB ports.
