Bong Go Says President Duterte To Ensure Smooth Transition Of Power

BONG GO — The senator has reassured the Filipino people that the current administration would guide the Philippines’ next leaders toward a seamless transition of power.

Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go said that President Rodrigo Duterte and his transition team have made early preparations for the smooth and systematic transfer of duties.

According to the senator, the intention is to ensure that the government service will not be delayed and the help for the Filipino people will continue, especially for those who are most in need.

The senator also said that executive departments have been heeding President Duterte’s directions to guarantee that everything is in order during the transition.

He added that the new leaders to be designated to the different government agencies are assured that the offices they are taking over are in good situation and are ready for their respective mandates in accordance with the plans and direction of the new administration.

On May 10, the President signed Administrative Order (AO) 47 which establishes a Presidential Transition Committee in order to monitor the transfer of power to the next government and to ensure that public services are delivered without interruption.

The said committee will be chaired by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea.

Senator Go believes that, despite the fact that elections can be divisive, healing would eventually occur and the Filipino people will come together once again. He also said that the country needs unity now more than ever, particularly in light of the coronavirus pandemic and other crises.

The senator then reassured the Filipino people that he would continue to serve them with compassion whenever they need him as the country enters a new era as a result of the new administration.

Manila Bulletin reported that the incoming administration will inherit an economy determined to achieve recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.

On May 12, the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) was reported to have grown by 8.3% in the first quarter of the year, exceeding forecasts and expectations.
