Here’s the response of PAO over remarks of Raffy Tulfo against the agency
PAO vs TULFO – Atty. Persida Acosta, the head of the Public Attorney’s Office is demanding a public apology from senatorial candidate Raffy Tulfo for the broadcast journalist’s remarks against their agency.
PAO is an attached agency of the Department of Justice (DOJ) that provides indigent litigants free legal assistance.
In an interview via CNN Philippines, Tulfo criticized PAO for allegedly not doing its job of providing legal assistance to the poor.
Some lawyers working for the government including Acosta did not like Tulfo’s remark.
Acosta pleads to Tulfo not to use the Public Attorney’s Office in his political agenda.
“Mr. T please spare PAO from politics,” she said.
“Sa totoo po nasaktan kaming lahat. Ang laki ng ahensiyang ito nationwide aatakihin ninyo publicly,” she added.
Acosta also reminded the public that PAO is collaborating with his program, Raffy Tulfo in Action, where the broadcast journalist rose to fame.
Then, Acosta challenged Tulfo to come up with evidence that the agency was not doing its job.
“Where is your basis? Nasaan ang ebidensya mo? Sinong kliyente ang pinabayaan ng PAO,” the chief public attorney said.
The Public Attorney’s Office head also shared that they have helped 85,533 clients.
Acosta, on the other hand, asked Tulfo to name their lawyers in the PAO who are not doing their job.
