Malacañang Speaks on Appointment of Karlo Nograles at CSC
MALACAÑANG – The Palace reacted to the issue that the new post of former presidential spokesman Karlo Nograles at the Civil Service Commission (CSC) was via “midnight appointment”.
Huge changes are expected in the government as a new administration is set to take place after the term of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte ends this year. This coming May, the Filipinos are set to vote for the national and local elections.
According to Pres. Duterte, he is ready to leave Malacañang as his term is about to end and he is even excited to be the outgoing president this time. He confirmed that he has already started packing his things and has already sent some of them home in Davao City.
A few months before his presidential term ends, the 76-year-old Chief Executive is having a new spokesman. He tapped Presidential Communications Operations Secretary (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar to be his acting spokesperson.
Andanar replaced former acting presidential spokesman Karlo Nograles who was recently appointed at the Civil Service Commission (CSC). Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, there are speculations that his new post at CSC was a “midnight appointment” – to which Malacañang spoke.
Malacañang denied that it was a “midnight appointment” for Nograles at the CSC. Acting presidential spokesman Martin Andanar stressed that his appointment is still within the time frame set under the law. The former acting presidential spokesman is set to serve as the chairman of CSC until February 2029.
Furthermore, according to the acting presidential spokesman, Pres. Duterte has yet to name anyone to replace Nograles as Cabinet secretary, National Task Force against Hunger chief, and COVID-19 task force spokesperson.
Nograles previously replaced Atty. Harry Roque as the spokesman of the president. The lawyer is currently busy with the campaigns as he runs for senator in the upcoming May 2022 Elections.
