Koko Pimentel on PDP-Laban Endorsing Marcos Jr: Just a “PR Stunt”

Sen. Koko Pimentel Reacts to PDP-Laban Endorsement of Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos

KOKO PIMENTEL – The Senator reacted to the endorsement of the presidential bid of former Senator Bongbong Marcos by the PDP-Laban.

The ruling party PDP-Laban was recently divided into two (2) factions – the Cusi wing and the Pacquiao wing. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has yet to decide on the said issue amid the May 2022 Elections drawing near.

The PDP-Laban Cusi wing has no presidential and vice-presidential bet. It previously announced that it will support the vice-presidential bid of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio. The presidential daughter is running under Lakas-CMD party.

Mayor Inday Sara is vocal about her hope that PDP-Laban will endorse her and former Sen. Bongbong Marcos as a tandem. It is despite her father’s previous tirades against the former Senator calling him a “very weak leader”.

Sen. Pimentel is the chairman of PDP-Laban Pacquiao wing. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, he tagged the move of the party’s Cusi wing as just allegedly a “PR stunt” and some of the members want to portray themselves as really influential.

“Mayaman kasi silang grupo, maraming pera. Kaya, maganda ang media coverage nila… Yung mga iba, bagong sali lang, pa lider-lider na… Pinapalaki lang yung papel,” Pimentel said.

Sen. Koko Pimentel stressed that PDP-Laban was formed to fight the martial rule of the Marcos Sr. He stressed that Energy Sec. Alfonso Cusi really has no idea why the party was formed.

Pimentel further stressed that Cusi and some of the party’s members do not understand what PDP-Laban is about and they are not knowledgeable about their members who died and those who were jailed during Martial Law.
