AWRA BRIGUELA – The comedian-actor defended actress Julia Barretto against her detractors.

Awra started off as an internet sensation. He became known for impersonating actresses such as Sarah Geronimo and Sarah Lahbati.

His showbiz career skyrocketed when he became part of top-rating ABS-CBN primetime series, “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” starring Coco Martin. In the series, he portrayed the role of “MakMak” which even bagged him the Best Child Performer in Aral Parangal Awards.

His life was also featured in an episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya, playing as himself alongside Aleck Bovick and Janus del Prado who played his mother and father respectively.

In 2016, he debuted on the big screen via the Super Parental Guardians alongside Coco Martin, Onyok Pineda, and Vice Ganda.

Later, Briguela later participated as a contestant in Your Face Sounds Familiar: Kids (season 1). He was declared champion at the time.

On the other hand, Julia Barretto rose to prominence after being cast in ABS-CBN’s Kokey, where she played the lead role of Anna Calugdan.

She also starred in other TV series such as Mirabella.

In 2020, she left Star Magic to sign a contract with Viva Artist Agency.

Awra and Julia have been friends for a long time but they became closer when they starred in The Seniors, their coming-of-age series which will premiere on Vivamax starting March 20.

In an interview, Awra defended Julia against her detractors.

“Si Ate Julia, ibang-iba siya sa pagkakakilala ng tao sa kanya. Sobrang bait ni Ate. Lagi lang siyang nami-misinterpret ng tao, pero ibang-iba yung pagkakilala ko kay Ate. Super caring niya, sobrang loving niya, sobrang joyful lang ni Ate,” Awra said.
