The Comelec 1st Division dismissed the consolidated petitions against former Sen. Bongbong Marcos allowing him to continue his presidential candidacy. The verdict elicited disagreement from retired Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon.

Rowena Guanzon was one of the three-member body handling the consolidated petitions against Marcos Jr.’s presidential bid. However, her retirement came early in February. She previously claim that there is allegedly a delay on the release of the resolution as “they” don’t want to include her vote.

Guanzon revealed that she voted to disqualify Marcos Jr. She expressed her belief that there is moral turpitude on his actions of not filing his income tax returns several times.

Marcos Jr. failed to pay his income tax and file his tax returns from 1982 to 1985. Following the release of the resolution that dismissed the petitions against the former Senator, retired Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon issued a statement.

In one of her points in the statement, Guanzon stressed that filing the ITR is a basic thing. It is her response to Commissioner Aimee Ferolino’s judgment that “Marcos Jr. did not voluntarily and intentionally violated the law”. Here’s her statement:
