Comelec To Hold Debate for Presidential Candidates
COMELEC – The Commission on Elections confirmed that 10 presidential candidates will attend its televised debate.
Currently, the candidates for the national election this May 2022 are busy campaigning following the kick-off of the campaign period last February 8. They are visiting different cities and provinces across the nation.
According to the Commission on Elections, there are ten (10) candidates left on the official ballot for the presidential election comes May 9. The following are the presidential bets:
- Ernesto Abella, former presidential spokesman
- Leody de Guzman, labor leader
- Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso
- Norberto Gonzales, former defense chief
- Senator Ping Lacson
- Faisal Mangondato
- Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., former senator
- Jose Montemayor Jr.
- Senator Manny Pacquiao
- Vice President Leni Robredo
The supporters of the presidential candidates are also doing their own initiatives to help campaign for their bets in the upcoming election. Different activities like caravans and feeding programs were conducted.
Many supporters also expressed their support to their bets through posters, streamers, and tarpaulins placed outside their homes. Comelec has set a maximum size allowed for the posters – 2 feet by 3 feet.
Aside from the campaign activities, also one of the events that the people await is the presidential debate. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is set to hold a three-round debate.
Based on a report on Rappler, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said that all 10 candidates for president will attend the presidential debate. The first round is set on March 19 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
According to Jimenez, the first round will be held in Metro Manila. The presidential bets are not allowed to bring cheat sheets and the questions will also not be given in advance.
