Three members of the Philippine Air Force died in car accident
PHILIPPINE AIR FORCE – Three personnel of the aerial warfare service branch of the Armed Forces of the Philippines were killed after their car crashed into concrete barriers along EDSA and burst into flames.
Car accident is one of the leading causes of death among Filipinos. In fact, the record shows that 12,000 Filipinos die on the road every year.
In 2018, 116,906 car accidents have been recorded in Metro Manila alone.
Among the common causes of road accidents in the country are the following; over speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol, bad overtaking, improper turning, and jaywalking.
Meanwhile, PAF confirmed that four of their personnel onboard a Honda City were involved in a car accident on Friday morning, February 18 along EDSA Santolan in Cubao, Quezon City at around 2 AM.
PCpl Ralph Henry Miranda of the Cubao PNP who was one of the first to respond to the incident said that the fire quickly engulfed the car so they could not get close to it.
Apparently, three of them passed away while the only survivor was rushed to the hospital for immediate medical treatment. He sustained injuries on his legs and arms.
The four personnel of PAF are on their way to Villamor Air Base when they collided with concrete barriers along EDSA Cubao southbound lane, right after P. Tuazon tunnel.
PAF is coordinating with proper authorities as they investigate the accident. However, no details have been released yet as to the circumstances that took the lives of the Air Force men.
On the other hand, the Quezon City Police District also could not say if the families of the involved personnel have already been informed about the accident.
