A Reddit user shared a photo of “Tallano gold bar” in soap form.
TALLANO GOLD BAR — A certain Reddit user recently shared a photo of soap in a shape of a gold bar bearing the name “100% pure Tallano” on its surface.
The name “100% pure Tallano” referenced the myth about numerous bars of gold supposedly hidden somewhere in the Philippines. On the other hand, the word “Sabonista” embedded at the bottom was the name of the store where the Reddit user bought it.
The said user shared the photo on the subreddit r/Philippines on Wednesday, January 27, 2022. It has since received 543 upvotes or likes on the platform.
Also, the said user shared another photo showing the “certificate of authenticity” proving, in jest, that the soap bar was in fact made of gold.
“Itong dokumentong ito ay nagpapatunay na ang TALLANO GOLD SOAP ay gawa sa tunay ginto,” the certificate reads. “Paano ko nasabi? Siyempre ako ang gumawa di ba? Patunayan mong peke ito, sige nga.”
The subreddit community expressed their reactions to the said post:
Based on Sabonista’s Facebook page, the “Tallano Gold Soap” was one of the bestsellers. Aside from this, Sabonista also offered other types of soaps in different colors, sizes, and scents.
Sabonista’s customers can buy this item through its Shopee store. The product was named “Tallano Gold Soap – 24K” on the e-commerce platform and each soap bar costs PHP 499 and weighs 250 grams.

The myth surrounding the gold bars of a pre-colonial family called the “Tallano clan” had been circulating around social media sites for years. It can also be found on the website of Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL).
In an interview with OneNews, presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos has dismissed the conspiracy theory that the Marcos family stored gold that they would eventually share with Filipinos.
“Sa buong buhay ko, hindi pa ako nakakakita ng gold na ganyan. Marami akong kilalang kung saan-saan naghuhukay pero ako wala pa akong nakitang kahit anong gold na sinasabi nila,” Bongbong said. “Baka may alam sila, sabihan ako.”
Bongbong’s spokesperson Atty. Vic Rodriguez also denied seeing those gold bars as well.
