After being hit by a stroke, Monica Herrera suffers brain tumor
MONICA HERRERA – The former actress revealed her battle with stroke and brain tumor.
It was in June 2017 when Monica had a stroke.
According to her, no one knew about her condition at the time except her immediate family and close relatives.
She shared that her family chose to be quiet because they don’t like others to pity her.
Eventually, they decided to expose her condition, “little by little.”
When she had a stroke, she was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Capitol Medical Center for a week. Later, she was confined for at least a month.
She revealed that the stroke has affected one major arterial supply of her body.
In fact, she cannot move her left arm and left leg.
She goes to rehab three times a week but it was stopped since the pandemic.
Her bout with stroke did not end there after doctors found out that she has a brain tumor.
“May nakita nga na meningioma sa brain ko. Slow growing naman daw. Nothing to worry at the time,” she said.
The doctor told her that she needs to undergo MRI or Magnetic resonance imaging every five years to know if the tumor is growing or not.
“Delikado raw kapag lumaki nang husto. Kailangan nang operahan ako,” she said.
She’s praying that she will soon get healed and recover.
Meanwhile, it was in the year 1988 when Monica started her showbiz career. She was only 18-years-old at the time.
She rose to fame when she became an in-demand leading lady of some famous actors, particularly action stars.
In her four (4) years in showbiz (1988-1992), she starred in almost fifty (50) movies which include her movie with the late King of Philippine Movies, Fernando Poe Jr. via Ako ang Huhusga (1989) and Hindi Ka Na Sisikatan ng Araw (1990).
However, she decided to leave the limelight after she became pregnant on her third child with Jeric Raval.
