Hearing of disqualification cases against Bongbong Marcos
BONGBONG MARCOS – The former senator and presidential aspirant skipped the Comelec hearing on disqualification cases filed against him because he’s not feeling well.
BBM is gearing up for the highest position in the government this coming May 9, 2022 election.
Together with his runningmate, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, they will go against the tandem of; Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Doc Willie Ong, Senator Manny Pacquiao and Buhay partylist representative, Lito Atienza as well as Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson and Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.
The two have been in different parts of the country, conducting caravan in preparation for next year’s poll.
Their tandem is considered one of the controversial team up in Philippine politics.
Apparently, BBM is facing petitions to cancel his COC and disqualification cases before the Comelec.
Among the disqualification cases he’s facing include based on the report of GMA News:
- the petition filed by Bonifacio Ilagan, the Campaign Against the Return of the Marcoses and Martial Law (CARMMA), and religious and youth rights advocates,
- the petition filed by Akbayan Citizens’ Action Party, and
- the petition filed by Abubakar Mangelen claiming to be the duly-elected chairman of the PFP and that the CONA issued to Marcos Jr. is “unauthorized, defective, invalid and void.”
However, Marcos failed to appear in the hearing.
Attorney Hanna Barcena, the former senator’s legal counsel, told Commissioner Rowena Guanzon that Bongbong Marcos was not feeling well.
According to her, she has been given full authority to represent her client.
But Marcos still needs to be present even via video meeting although he’s on quarantine, said Guanzon.
The hearing was delayed as the Comelec First Division waited for the medical certificate of Marcos Jr.
On the other hand, Attorney Vic Rodriguez, Marcos’ spokesperson, said the former senator has been placed under isolation following his exposure to two persons positive for coronavirus.
Meanwhile, Marcos’ physician later presented and read a medical certificate. The presidential aspirant was visited by his doctor prior to the hearing because of his “painfully congested throat.”
