DITO Telecommunity now has 5 million subscribers.
DITO TELECOMMUNITY — The Philippines’ third major telecommunications company said on Monday that it now has 5 million subscribers.
Nine months after its commercial launch last March, DITO said that the telco now has 5 million subscribers and has posted PHP 2 billion in revenues. DITO also said that the telco has also reached more than 500 areas nationwide.
Adel Tamano, the chief administrative officer at DITO, said that the telco has constructed more than 4,100 towers and has also laid out more than 22,000 kilometers of fiber optic cables. Tamano added that those towers were more than enough to service the telco’s more than 5 million subscribers nationwide.
“It bears repeating that some have said that rolling out DITO in the time given was impossible,” Tamano said.

DITO, meanwhile, welcomed the news that most of its network had been restored or remained operational after the onslaught of typhoon “Odette”.
DITO Chief Technology Officer Ret. Major General Santiago said that rapid pre-deployed disaster teams saved the day even though it’s inevitable that the telco suffered network outages, adding that disaster resilience of the DITO network was built into its rollout plans.
Santiago added that the telco will be providing 1,000 pre-loaded SIM cards to first responders in areas affected by typhoon “Odette” in order to help coordinate relief and recovery missions by the government.
“Though it was inevitable that DITO suffered network outages, rapid pre-deployed disaster teams saved the day,” Santiago said. “Disaster resilience of the DITO network was built into our rollout plans.“
It was last Friday when DITO CME Holdings Corp, the listed company operating DITO Telecommunity, set the final offer price of its stock rights offer at PHP 4.88 per share.
