SKILYR HICKS – The singer-songwriter, who wowed the judges on “America’s Got Talent” when she was 14, died at the age of 23.

She was found lifeless inside her friend’s home in Liberty, South Carolina, last Monday.

Authorities arrived at the scene to assist emergency medical services “on a possible overdose.”

Apparently, the exact circumstances of her death are still unknown.

But according to her mom, her daughter “battled with mental health issues, including depression and substance abuse.”

It was in 2013 when Skilyr Hicks auditioned for the eighth season of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”

She was only 14-years-old when she joined the competition wherein she performed an original piece which she wrote in the memory of her late father.

Meanwhile, America’s Got Talent (AGT) is a televised American talent show competition and is part of the global Got Talent franchise created by Simon Cowell.

The talent show competition is now on its sixteenth season which premiered on NBC last June 1, 2021.

The show is hosted by Terry Crews. The program was forced to take a two-week hiatus due to the network’s live coverage of the 2020 Summer Olympics, which had been postponed for a year.

The newest season features the return of Simon Cowell as a judge, after recovering from an accident the previous year that made him unable to attend the live rounds in the previous season.

This year’s winner is a magician named Dustin Tavella.

Authorities are yet to issue any update with regards to the death of Skilyr Hicks.
