President Duterte said that he won’t support Bongbong Marcos and Manny Pacquiao in the 2022 elections.
PRESIDENT RODRIGO DUTERTE – The Philippine President said that he won’t support presidential aspirants Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr and Emmanuel “Manny” Pacquiao in the 2022 elections.
In an exclusive interview with pro-Duterte vlogger Byron Cristobal, also known as Banat By, President Duterte said that he will soon reveal why he will not support Pacquiao and Marcos in 2022.
“Manghingi lang ako ng ilang oras lang. Malaman na nila kung sino ang umikot. Hindi ako nagpapaikot,” he said. “I’m just asking for a few more hours at masasabi ko na kung ano ang talagang totoo. Sa kampanya sabihin ko bakit hindi ako pwedeng magsuporta kay Marcos. Ganoon din kay Pacquiao at sa iba.”
President Duterte’s statement came after Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go withdrew his candidacy for vice president at the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) office on Saturday and filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) for president in the 2022 elections instead.
Meanwhile, the President explained that he will support Go because he has known him as a person who has not exaggerated his abilities for the longest time. President Duterte likewise lauded Go’s honesty.
The President reiterated that he never expressed support for any other candidate except for Go.
“Ni minsan wala kayong narinig na mag-Marcos ako. Wala, wala kayong narinig,” President Duterte said. “Kailanman hindi ako nagsalita na may susuportahan ako– si Marcos o si Pacquiao. Wala ‘yan sila. Kinakausap ko lang for respeto, eh gusto akong makausap.”

The President also said that he’s the one who encouraged Go to pursue the presidency after he saw him crying in public because of the developments, particularly when his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, withdrew her candidacy for reelection and filed her certificate of candidacy for vice president under Lakas-CMD.
According to Mayor Sara, running for vice president was an opportunity for her to meet her supporters halfway.
President Duterte also denied that Go was only manipulating him for his gains. According to him, he’ll be very pitiful if he’ll let someone whom he worked with dictate on him.
“Napaka kawawa ko naman kung didiktahan lang ako ng isang… kasama ko dito sa trabaho,” President Duterte said. “Ako ang magdikta sa kanya, hindi ako nagpapadikta. Ako siguro ang magsasabi sa kanya kung ano ang gawin mo. What’s next, ika nga.”
