Globe Telecom accelerated the rollout of in-building solutions to improve indoor 5G coverage.
Telco giant Globe Telecom accelerated the rollout of in-building solutions (IBS) to improve indoor 5G coverage in the Philippines.
Globe claimed that the company was accelerating the rollout of 5G capable in-building solutions in order to provide quality indoor coverage.
The local telco giant explained that the in-building solution was used in order to extend and distribute cellular signals within a structure or building.
According to a report on Gizguide, the first areas where the IBS technology will be implemented were key tourism-related destinations in the country such as shopping malls, airports, and stadiums.
In particular, Globe has successfully rolled out its 5G in-building solutions at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminals 1, 3, and 4, as well as the Riverbank Mall, Newport Mall, SM Mall of Asia Annex, office-retail W City Center, New Clark City Athletic Stadium, and Philippine Arena.
The local telco giant has also activated its 5G in-building solutions at the House of Representatives complex, Speaker Ramon V. Mitra Building, Legislative Library Building, Marikina City Hall, MAAX, 917Ventures office, and The Globe Tower.
According to Globe, it has completed 73 IBS sites in order to provide high-quality indoor coverage from January to September this year.

“We also see to it that we equip existing structures with the right technology for better and consistent coverage indoors,” Agustin said.
Globe has more than 1,900 5G locations nationwide as of the end of September 2021, mostly in major urban centers.
The local telco giant was also ramping out the rollout of 4G and was busy expanding its 5G coverage. Globe claimed that it has 95% outdoor coverage in Metro Manila.
