On October 31, the Oplan Bangon Cagayan group was conducting a relief operation at the Barangay Mission in the said town when the police suddenly arrived.

The cops were carrying a tarpaulin with “Duterte Legacy” written on it.

One of the policemen approached Zach Xavier Singson’s colleagues and asked if they could be photographed while handing relief goods with the tarpaulin as the background.

Singson, the leader of the said civic organization allegedly refused but the police insisted. And when they got the picture, they left immediately.

According to the chief of Sta. Teresita Police, his men only went there to make sure that such activities follow the health protocol.

Recently, Singson and his group had a dialogue with the Regional Director of PRO2, PBGEN Steve B. Ludan.

Ludan made it clear that there was a misunderstanding on their part and assured that proper actions against the police officers involved were already taken.

Singson noted that police who showed up in their relief distribution were relieved from their posts and subjected to re-orientation.

Singson stressed that in spite of what happened, they will continue with their mission and purpose which is to help their fellow Cagayanos and the Filipino people who are in need of help.

Meanwhile, PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar has yet to comment on the matter.

Last July, President Rodrigo Duterte said that he will not brag about his administration’s accomplishments and legacy.
