Educators across the country are going the extra mile amid the suspension of face-to-face classes due to the pandemic.

As a result, offline- through the use of modular distance learning and online learning methods are being observed.

Although there are no in-person classes, the risk of acquiring the dreaded COVID-19 is still inevitable.

Because of this, the education department decided to give extra hazard pay to educators under the ECQ, separate from other benefits that teachers receive.

Briones announced this during a Palace briefing where she also reported the pilot testing of limited face-to-face classes in the country next month.

She said that educators in ECQ areas may receive a daily allowance (extra hazard pay) of P550.

Aside from that, if a teacher was infected with coronavirus disease or COVID-19, he/she will receive another assistance, on top of their “special hardship allowance.”

Meanwhile, it was on Wednesday when DepEd announced that the pilot implementation of limited face-to-face classes will begin this coming November 15.

Initially, there are 100 public schools and 20 private schools involved in the limited in-person classes involving pupils from Kindergarten to Grade 3.

But only 59 public schools out of 638 nominated schools were approved by the Department of Health to participate in the face-to-face classes.

Face-to-face classes have been suspended across the country due to the pandemic.
