GENDER REVEAL PARTY – A couple from Dubai found themselves in hot waters after using a real tiger to find out the gender of their first baby.
A gender-reveal party is a party held during pregnancy to reveal the baby’s gender to the expectant parents, family, and friends.
The usual setup is by using props to denote the gender of a baby either girl(pink) or boy (blue).
But the practice has been criticized for alleged gender stereotyping and the use of elaborate and dangerous special effects, which have directly contributed to multiple deaths, injuries, and fire incidents.
Meanwhile, a couple from Dubai was heavily criticized after using a real-life tiger for their gender reveal party.
The stunt performed by the tiger has been recorded on the camera and after it was posted on social media, it immediately spread like a wildfire.
The party took place on a beach next to the Burj Al Arab Hotel.
Apparently, the tiger was not chained as it walked around the area. All of a sudden, it chased balloons hovering its head. Eventually, the animal punctured the black balloon with its paws and pink powder burst out, which means the baby is a girl.
However, netizens were not impressed with their gimmick.
A netizen said: “Ridiculous. Wild animals shouldn’t be pets.”
Another netizen stressed that this is not something to be proud of, citing that such an animal is not a pet.
Meanwhile, Dubai law states that there are penalties for those who bring a wild animal to a public place.
