Robredo revealed that Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan was officially her running mate for the 2022 elections.

The Vice President also formally announced their tandem after Pangilinan filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) at the Harbor Garden Tent of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila in Pasay City.

Robredo shared that she accompanied Pangilinan earlier to file his candidacy as vice president.

During a press briefing at Robredo’s office in the Quezon City Reception House, Robredo introduced Pangilinan as her running mate and said that she’s confident that Pangilinan can address concerns and the responsibility of a higher office.

According to her, running for president as an independent candidate was her “symbolic way” of showing inclusivity.

With Robredo running for president as an independent candidate, will the Liberal Party (LP) adopt her as a presidential candidate?

Liberal Party president Pangilinan said that it has been earlier decided that the Vice President will be their candidate for the presidency in the 2022 elections.

We already passed a resolution in our National Executive council meeting na our candidate for president is VP Leni. So that is already set and therefore the party will mobilize behind her,” Pangilinan said.

Robredo, meanwhile, said that the campaign color used by a candidate wasn’t what defined a person, as should be based on the choices people make.

She also revealed that they didn’t have the chance to pick a color motif because her decision to run in the 2022 elections was admittedly belated.
