In a surprise move, the incumbent senator filed his Certificate of Candidacy on the last day of COC filing as he vies for the second-highest position in the government

He will go against Buhay party-list representative Lito Atienza, Doc. Willie Ong, senators Bong Go and Tito Sotto.

He will run the said post alongside his running mate, Vice President Leni Robredo.

According to him, he will not back out from the VP race after being flooded with support.

He stressed that among the things that encouraged him to push through in his VP bid are the “explosion” of support from volunteers backing him and Robredo.

“These motorcades, for example, in the coming days, this is purely spontaneous, wala kaming inorganisa dito,” the senator said.

“So the explosion, yung bumabaha ang suporta, talagang yun ang naguudyok sa atin kaya tuloy tuloy na ito, wala nang atrasan,” he added.
