Huawei launched the first generation Huawei VR Glass in 2019 and followed with a successor called the 2nd generation Huawei VR Glass 6DOF Game Set with improved features and 360º controllers in October 2020. However, Huawei’s new model was yet to be commercially available after over a year.

When the Chinese tech giant announced the new VR Glass last year, the company said that the device will be available to developers by December 2020 and will be available for purchase in April 2021. Unfortunately, that’s yet to happen.

However, new information has revealed that Huawei’s new VR Glass should arrive soon as the news of the launch of the 2nd generation Huawei VR Glass came from the leaker Teme (@RODENT950 / Twitter) who posted the information on the matter a few days ago.

Huawei had some products planned for release before 2021 ends such as its new foldable smartphone and so there’s a chance that the new VR headset will be announced at the event.

Gizmochina reported that Huawei only revealed the design and a few features of the device but didn’t unveil the price when it was first revealed last year at the World VR Industry Conference Cloud Summit.

The first-generation model launched for ¥2999 (~ USD 470) and was still available for purchase on Vmall. The public can expect a higher price tag since its successor packed upgrades in multiple areas.

According to a report, the Huawei VR Glass 6DOF Game Set shared a similar design to its predecessor but added two cameras at the top for tracking.

The 2nd generation Huawei VR Glass also upgraded the Google Daydream-like controller to a pair that was similar to that of the Oculus Quest but with 3 buttons instead of two along with a joystick.

There’s no information on when the 2nd Generation Huawei VR Glass will be available for purchase as of this writing, but there’s a chance that it will arrive before the end of the year.
