On Saturday, September 11, Matteo posted a video in which he proudly shared that he beat his personal record in weightlifting.

He also shared that he trains under the supervision of his coach Arnold Aninion.

However, it seemed that not everyone is happy with his achievement.

A basher commented on his post calling Matteo Guidicelli and his coach, “copycat clowns” and “wannabe Hidilyns,” while referring to weightlifter and Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz.

The husband of singer Sarah Geronimo just laughed off at the comment.

Here’s his response:

Arnold also replied to the basher. He even challenged the netizen and called out the latter for dragging Hidilyn’s name.

The basher kept on engaging with other followers of Matteo Guidicelli, but the actor/singer/TV host chose not to respond.

Meanwhile, Hidilyn Diaz made history as the first-ever Filipino to bag a gold medal in the Olympics in the recently concluded women’s 55-kg weightlifting event.

The country’s pride finished with a total score of 224 kg defeating China’s Liao Qiuyun.

The 30-year-old weightlifter from Zamboanga ended the near century-long Olympic gold medal drought of the country since it competed in 1924.

Because of her achievement in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics, several businesses and public officials pledged to give her rewards such as cash, free flights, house and lot, properties, cars and to name a few.

With her historic win at the Olympics, many were inspired to follow in her footsteps.
