The National Digital Vaccine Certificate was a project of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the purpose of VaxCertPH was to streamline all vaccination cards issued by local government units (LGUs) throughout the Philippines.

Vaccination cards were given to those who took part in the national government’s mass COVID-19 vaccination program.

According to the DICT, the ultimate goal of VaxCertPH was to facilitate the vaccination of as many Filipinos as possible, in the fastest time possible. VaxCertPH was a component of the agency’s Vaccine Information Management System (VIMS).

Moreover, the National Digital Vaccine Certificates will be issued for free under the said project.

DICT Undersecretary Manny Caintic said last August that VaxCertPH was already integrated with the WHO countries but they just needed enough time for the LGUs.

Caintic also assured the public that the data collected for the National Digital Vaccine Certificate will be protected and will be managed by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Department of Health (DOH).
