Senator Lacson and Senate President Sotto revealed the date of the tandem’s COC filing.
Senator Panfilo Lacson and Senate President Vicente Sotto III recently revealed the date of the tandem’s COC filing.
In an interview on ABS-CBN News Channel, Lacson said that he and his running mate will file their certificates of candidacy (COC) on October 6. Sotto also confirmed to Inquirer the date of their COC filing.
“We have the exact time to file because it is Senate President Sotto who decides on this matter because siya yung medyo may paniniwala doon sa mga consultations. Ako, I always respect pagdating sa mga hunches or whatever basis for timing the launch event and then the filing, si Tito Sen na yun,” Lacson said.
Last September 8, Lacson and Sotto officially launched their 2022 bid and presented themselves as a viable option to ensure that the Philippines would arise from difficulties brought by the pandemic.
Aside from Lacson, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Senator Manny Pacquiao have declared their presidential bid for next year’s polls.

Meanwhile, Inquirer reported that Lacson saw a “very slim” chance for the opposition or “non-administration forces” to field a single ticket for the 2022 elections.
In an interview on ABS-CBN News Channel on Tuesday, Lacson said that he can’t see the possibility that the one unity ticket of the opposition will push through.
Senator Lacson was one of the presidential aspirants that Vice President Leni Robredo met with in a bid to “forge the broadest possible unity among groups and individuals seeking change in 2022”.
However, the senator noted that the other personalities Robredo talked with, such as Manila Mayor Isko Moreno and Senator Manny Pacquiao, have already declared their presidential bids for next year’s polls.
“Let’s wait for October 8. The last day of filing and even Nov. 15, the last day for substitution before we can really conclude kung ilan yung talagang formally or officially yung candidates for president and vice president,” Lacson said.
