In an interview on CNN Philippines, Nograles said that the President wasn’t convinced that the “Duterte-Duterte tandem” should happen in 2022.

Yes, he said that. ‘Yung Duterte-Duterte, he’s not convinced that it should happen in 2022,” Nograles said, referring to President Duterte’s taped speech aired late Tuesday night.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a message to reporters that the President himself said during his taped weekly address aired Tuesday night that he and Senator Bong Go weren’t inclined to run for vice president and president, respectively, in the May 2022 elections if his daughter would seek the presidency.

Rappler reported that Roque was surprised that this portion of the meeting didn’t make it to the final version aired on television. According to Roque, he didn’t know why this portion of President Duterte’s remarks were edited out.
