Mom of Trillanes passes away at 87 due to Parkinson’s disease
ESTELITA FUENTES TRILLANES – The mother of former senator Antonio Trillanes IV passed away due to Parkinson’s disease at the age of 87.
The ex-legislator revealed the sad news through a tweet on the micro-blogging site, Twitter.
“It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mrs. Estelita Fuentes Trillanes,” he said.
“She died of complications due to her advanced Parkinson’s condition. She was 87,” he added.
According to Mayo Clinic, Parkinson’s disease is a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement.
Symptoms start gradually, sometimes starting with a barely noticeable tremor in just one hand. Tremors are said to be common, but the disorder commonly causes stiffness or slowing of movement.
Unfortunately, there is no known cure for Parkinson’s disease to date.
Meanwhile, Antonio Fuentes Trillanes IV is a retired Philippine Navy officer who served as a senator of the Philippines from 2007 to 2019.
He is known for his involvement in the Oakwood mutiny in 2003 and the Manila Peninsula siege in 2007 in protest against the Arroyo administration.
He ran for vice president in the 2016 national elections but lost to then Camarines Sur representative Leni Robredo.
Trillanes is also an avid critic of the Duterte administration.
His most recent claim against President Rodrigo Duterte is the alleged corruption involving Senator Christopher “Bong” Go.
He accused the two of plunder in connection with the awarding of a contract worth P6.6 billion to a construction company owned by Go’s father.
Trillanes said it is clear from the document from the Commission on Audit that Duterte gave Go’s family 184 projects worth P6.6 billion.
But Go had earlier denied Trillanes’ allegations.
In February 2020, Trillanes launched his vlog TRx: Trillanes Explains, where he discusses pressing issues and releases exposés coursed through his social media accounts.
