Jimuel Pacquiao Dragged in Political Issues
JIMUEL PACQUIAO – Claims that the son of Senator Manny Pacquiao is an official member of his father’s political party crossed the surface.
The election fever is undeniably starting now. There are already talks about the possible presidential candidates in 2022 and allegations also start to hit the surface.
One of those who are eyed to possibly run for president next year is Senator Manny Pacquiao. However, his political party, the PDP-Laban, is having factions now and it has yet to name its standard-bearer for the next political bid.
Currently, the Senator is in abroad for his upcoming boxing fight. He is under training now and his family also flew abroad to support him.
However, here in the Philippines, some political issues are dragging the names not just of Sen. Manny Pacquiao but as well as the name of his eldest son, Jimuel Pacquiao.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Cusi faction of PDP-Laban claimed that Jimuel is officially a member of the Labor Party of the Philippines (LPP). It is one of the three (3) political parties founded by his Senator father.
According to PDP-Laban Cusi wing’s secretary-general Melvin Matibag, the parties former by Sen. Pacquiao are allegedly his standby parties in case he will not be chosen as the PDP-Laban’s standard-bearer.
According to the report, Matibag admitted that no violation is committed if Jimuel Pacquiao is an official member of LPP. Allegedly, the son of Sen. Manny Pacquiao is the chairman of the youth affairs committee.
The issues reached Sen. Koko Pimentel who is the son of the founder of PDP-Laban, the late former Sen. Aquilino “Nene” Pimentel. He stressed that Jimuel who is currently 20 years old is of legal age already and can decide what he wants to do.
Sen. Pimentel criticized the moves of Matibag tagging it as distractions to Sen. Manny Pacquiao who is now preparing for his upcoming boxing match. He described it as an “unpatriotic” move as he called them “trapos (traditional politicians)”.
