Relationship of Hidilyn Diaz and Julius Naranjo
HIDILYN DIAZ – The first Filipina gold medalist and her coach, boyfriend Julius Naranjo shared further details about their relationship.
The couple gave a sneak peek of their three-year relationship in an episode of “Tunay na Buhay.”
It was in 2017 when the couple first met at a competition in Turkmenistan.
According to Julius, who’s a Filipino-Japanese, he was based in Guam and did not know that she was a Silver medalist at the time.
Julius said that Hidilyn immediately caught his attention when they first met.
She was about to go to China to start her training for the Olympics when Julius surprised her in 2018 by telling her that he wanted to stay in Manila for good.
But it took a while before she fully trusts Julius to let him into her life as well as her team.
She attested to the sweetness and thoughtfulness of her first boyfriend.
Due to their busy schedule especially with her training, the two hardly go on dates now.

Meanwhile, Hidilyn Diaz made history as the first-ever Filipino to bag a gold medal in the Olympics in the recently concluded women’s 55-kg weightlifting event.
The country’s pride finished with a total score of 224 kg defeating China’s Liao Qiuyun.
The 30-year-old weightlifter from Zamboanga ended the near century-long Olympic gold medal drought of the country since it competed in 1924.
Because of her achievement in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics, several businesses and public officials pledged to give her rewards such as cash, free flights, house and lot, properties, cars and to name a few.
