Here’s the reason why Donita Rose left showbiz
DONITA ROSE – The former actress revealed the reason why she left the Philippines and decided to live in the US.
Donita started her showbiz career via the defunct show, That’s Entertainment. She then ventured into acting through the 1989 film, Gabo.
Later on, she starred in Filipino sitcoms; Alabang Girls and Ober Da Bakod and in the year 2002, she starred with Piolo Pascual in the romantic drama film 9 Mornings as Elise Romasanta.
She was a former co-host of ABS-CBN’s morning news and entertainment show Umagang Kay Ganda.
She was also a host in the former Filipino morning variety-talk show on GMA called Basta Every Day, Happy! alongside Gladys Reyes, Alessandra De Rossi and Chef Boy Logro.
She last appeared on television in the GMA drama, Let the Love Begin. On the other hand, her last movie was Seven Sundays under Star Cinema.
After that, she left the world of show business and move to the United States of America.
In a vlog with Rufa Mae Quinto and LJ Moreno, Donita Rose recounted the experience that pushed her to start a new life in America.
According to her, she had no job in the Philippines. And it got to the point that she could no longer afford her expenses despite the fact her mother is helping her to pay their monthly bills.
“I felt so bad. My mom is 73 years old. Ayoko naman na parang ganito na lang ang buhay ko,” she admitted.
Her mother told her that it was okay for her to help her with their expenses but she could not take it seeing her mother working.
After all, the former actress is happy with the course of her life in America. She said she can do the things she likes now such as cooking.
Donita Rose worked as a corporate chef at a famous supermarket chain in the US which is owned by Jefferson Lim and Krista Ranillo.
She said she is doing a lot to level up Filipino cuisines with food scientist Maricel Aguilar.
When asked if she still wants to return to showbiz, she admitted that she is willing if she has a chance.
