The OPM band’s drummer Lemuel Belaro is credited for the composition of the song.

According to him via a video of OG YouTube channel, it was inspired by a letter sent to him.

He said that he was with their frontman Kean Cipriano when he started writing the chorus of the song while they are riding the jeepney.

He wrote the song the whole night and the next day, he was able to finish it.

Callalily’s drummer noted that the pre-chorus of the song Magbalik was mixed in the theme of God’s love especially the line: “Hindi magbabago pagmamahal sayo.”

Magbalik which turned out to be Callalily’s breakthrough single was released in 2006.

In 2007, it was named Song of the Year at OPM Songhits Music Awards.
