Only fully vaccinated individuals will be allowed to physically attend President Duterte’s last SONA, according to a House official.
House Secretary-General Mark Llandro Mendoza on Monday said that only fully vaccinated individuals will be allowed to physically attend President Rodrigo Duterte’s last State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 26, 2021.
Mendoza said in a virtual interview with reporters that around 350 people will be allowed to attend President Duterte’s last SONA.
“Kaya naman dinamihan natin ngayon, karamihan naman kasi is fully-vaccinated na. At the same time, nagluwag na rin ‘yung IATF so 30% ng capacity ng plenary ay puwedeng gamitin. Pero piling-pili rin talaga ang inano namin, nirequire na talagang fully-vaccinated ka,” Mendoza said.
According to Mendoza, those who will attend will be subjected to COVID-19 RT-PCR and antigen testing. He also said that the COVID-19 RT-PCR test will be for those who will enter the plenary while the COVID-19 antigen test was for those who weren’t needed inside the plenary.
When asked about the guest list, Mendoza said that former presidents, vice presidents, speakers of the House, and other important personalities were invited.
Mendoza also mentioned that former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo already confirmed that she will attend the SONA while others haven’t confirmed their attendance yet.
Moreover, Mendoza said that Zoom links will also be given to those who will not be able to physically attend President Duterte’s last SONA. Mendoza added that the Batasang Pambansa will be placed on lockdown starting Friday, July 23.
“Ginagawa naman talaga ‘yun, normally by Friday lockdown na talaga, wala na talagang pwedeng pumasok sa Batasan starting Friday,” Mendoza said.
