Leila de Lima Seeks Reelection as Senator Despite Being Imprisoned

Leila de Lima: “Tatakbo akong muli. Hindi ako susuko.”

Senator Leila de Lima is more determined to remain a legislator despite her imprisonment.

“Marami ang nagtatanong sa akin kung sa kabila ng pagyurak na ginawa mo sa akin ay may lakas pa ako ng loob na muling tumakbo bilang Senador sa 2022,” she said.

“Tatakbo akong muli. Hindi ako susuko. Tuloy ang laban. Sisingilin ka namin sa anim na taon na pambabalasubas mo sa aming bansa,” Leila de Lima added hitting President Rodrigo Duterte.

De Lima has been detained for four years on charges of illegal drugs.

Leila Norma Eulalia Josefa Magistrado de Lima, a politician, lawyer, human rights activist, and law professor is currently serving as senator of the Philippines since 2016.

Previously, she held the positions of Chairperson of the Commission on Human Rights from May 2008 to June 2010, and as the Secretary of Justice from 2010 to 2015 under the administration of late president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

In 2017, she was arrested for her alleged link on the drug trade at the New Bilibid Prison during her term as the Justice secretary. Later that year, she was awarded the Prize for Freedom.
