Spotted by Gizchina, Instagram was currently testing a new sticker that would allow users to share links on Instagram Stories.

With this feature, users would only tap the sticker in order to open the link instead of a swipe up. In addition, users can also react to the stickers which wasn’t an option for swipe-up links.

This will open a whole new opportunity for small influencers who can share their links on Instagram without having 10K followers.

According to Instagram, they’re keeping an eye on how users used the link sticker and what kind of links users were using and whether they’re using scam/vulnerable links.

Instagram’s head of product Vishal Shah said in an interview with The Verge that link stickers were the eventual goal for Instagram.

That is the sort of future system we would like to get to. And that’s what we hope to roll out if we’re able to make this work,” he said.

Unfortunately, only Instagram Stories will get the link option for now as Instagram had always been strict in terms of link sharing. According to Shah, there’s “no plan” to bring links to the feed or any other part of the app.

This test was added mostly for users who used Instagram to support others or to raise a voice, so that it would be easier for all people to share links regarding anything.

Gizchina reported that the said feature was still a question of implementation as it could be used for spamming.
