Hidilyn Diaz: “Doon ako umiyak eh. Nu’ng sinabi na ganito ‘yung tatay ko.”
HIDILYN DIAZ – The country’s first Olympic gold medalist slammed fake news about her father.
The Zamboanga-based weightlifter made the statement in response to 2019 issue wherein she was tagged on the so-called “anti-Duterte matrix.”
At the time, her was father was also alleged to be part of the New People’s Army (NPA).
Recalling that experience, she said in an interview: “I just have to forgive everyone, pero sana natuto tayo.”
“Siguro wag tayong mag-fake news. Ang daming information sa social media. Sana tignan natin kung totoo,” she added.
With regards to the accusations that her father was a member of NPA, she said: “Doon ako umiyak eh. Nu’ng sinabi na ganito ‘yung tatay ko. Paano niyo naman nasabi ‘yung ganoon?”
“Pero, anyway, I just have to forgive para sa peace of mind ko and my family,” she added.
Hidilyn Diaz made history as the first-ever Filipino to bag a gold medal in the Olympics in the recently concluded women’s 55-kg weightlifting event.
