DOST and DOH will discuss “mix and match” of COVID-19 vaccine brands on July 15, according to a DOST official.
On Tuesday, a DOST official said that the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Department of Health (DOH) will discuss the “mix and match” of COVID-19 vaccine brands on July 15.
DOST Undersecretary Rowena Guevara said at the Laging Handa briefing that the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Health, and the Philippine Society for Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (PSAAI) will discuss the implementation of the “mix and match” clinical trials.
“Nakatakdang magpulong ang DOST, DOH, at PSAAI sa ikalabing lima ng Hulyo upang mapagusapan nang lubusan ng implementation ng ating mix and match trials,” Guevara said.
Guevara added that only approved COVID-19 vaccine brands will be used in clinical trials such as AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Sputnik V, Moderna, and Sinovac.

According to Guevara, at least 3,000 participants will be recruited for the clinical trials from Manila, Pasig City, Cebu City, Marikina City, Antipolo, Makati, Quezon City, Pasay City, Muntinlupa, and Davao City.
Guevara also said that only unvaccinated people can participate in the said trial.
Last Sunday, DOST Vaccine Expert Panel (VEP) chief Dr. Nina Gloriani said that the study on mixing different COVID-19 vaccine brands was delayed because some vaccine shipments didn’t arrive on the intended date.
According to DOST, it was eyeing to start the study in June but it must first obtain approval from the Philippine Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB).
