Maria Belen Perez Maurice lost in the women’s saber individual after a 15-12 defeat to Anna Marton of Hungary.

In the post-game interview, her coach and boyfriend Lucas Guillermo Saucedo suddenly knelt down and pulled out a paper that read “Will you marry me?” in Spanish.

Then, Perez Maurice shouted and immediately kissed her boyfriend.

“They told me to turn around, and he had the letter. I forgot everything. I was like, ‘oh my god,'” the fencer said in Spanish.

Meanwhile, the United States of America is leading in the 2020-2021 Olympics with 8 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 8 bronze medals followed by Japan with 8-2-3 and China with 7-5-7.

On the other hand, the Philippines has ended its near century-long Olympic gold medal drought after Hidilyn Diaz bagged a gold medal in the women’s 55-kg weightlifting event.
