The Philippines had the highest daily number of COVID-19 vaccinations among the five largest countries in ASEAN, according to Galvez.
On Monday, vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said that the Philippines currently had the highest daily number of COVID-19 vaccinations among the five largest countries in ASEAN.
According to Galvez’s presentation, the Philippines administered around 150,000 COVID-19 jabs per day, more than Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, and Vietnam.
During the weekly “Talk To The People” briefing headed by President Rodrigo Duterte, Galvez said that local government units (LGUs) and the Department of Health (DOH) had been “very systematic” in their administration of COVID-19 vaccines.

Galvez also said that the government was aiming to increase its daily COVID-19 vaccinations to 500,000 in the third quarter of 2021 and then to 740,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses in the fourth quarter of 2021 to reach herd immunity targets.
“Ito po patataasin yung ating jabs per day. Kayang kaya natin ang 500,000 to 740,000 per day. Kapag dumami na ang ating volumes tataaas ang ating vaccination,” Galvez said.
Aside from this, Galvez said that the Philippines had been inoculating one million individuals per week for the past two weeks.

Citing a report released by the independent group International Budget Partnership, Galvez said that the Philippines was among four countries which demonstrated an “adequate” level of accountability in its early COVID-19 fiscal policy responses.
The Philippines, along with Australia, Peru, and Norway were the only countries that reached an “adequate” level of accountability in early COVID-19 fiscal policy responses.
