The COVID-19 test results from a self-swab may be “questionable”, according to Duque.
On Thursday, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said that the COVID-19 test results from a self-swab may be “questionable” since there’s no guarantee that standards and protocols were followed.
Duque said at the “Laging Handa” briefing that they have protocols for swabbing, adding that any person can’t just do it by themselves as their test results will be questionable if they didn’t meet the standards.
“Meron tayong mga panuntunan o pamantayan para gawin ‘yan. Hindi puwedeng sarili mong gagawin ‘yan. Kung hindi naman ito naaayon sa mga tamang pamantayan ay kaduda-duda ang magiging resulta so hindi po natin dapat ginagawa ito,” Duque said.

Duque’s statement came after actor Robin Padilla went viral on social media for posting a video of himself and his staff conducting a self-swab aboard a boat earlier this week.
According to Robin, no medical professional was available at the time.
“6 ng umaga mag umpisa na kami ng trabaho pero wala pa ang nurse Hindi dahilan sa mga mandaragat ang walang nurse, kailangan isagawa ang covid test, basta isaksak mo ang swab stick hanggang sa dulo at makiliti mo ang utak mo, at kapag naluha kana tsaka mo iikot ng 5 hanggang 8 segundo yun na raw yun. Abbot antigen test courtesy of pareng kiko,” Robin said in his Instagram post.
Aside from this, Duque also reminded the public that COVID-19 vaccines were not available for sale. Duque said that the Department of Health reminded poll commissioner Rowena Guanzon that the sale of COVID-19 vaccines was not yet permitted.
“Wala pang certificate of product registration kaya hindi mo pwedeng ibenta sa open market,” Duque explained.
Duque’s statement came after Guanzon tweeted last May 20 that she’s looking to buy COVID-19 vaccine doses for her drivers and staff.
