Lola Aida Real introduced herself on social media as a widower who has a business.

“Ipo-profile ka muna nila. Unang-una, tinitingnan nila ‘yung financial capability mo. Anong financial background ng family mo? At the same time, nag-iisa ka ba?” said Vic Lorenzo, chief of NBI Cybercrime Unit.

On the other hand, her online lover pretended to be a US Army general.

“Kahit English carabao naintindihan niya eh. Meron akong maliit na business sabi ko. Pero sapat lang para sumuporta sa anak ko,” she said.

“Oo siyempre. Nagbabaka sakali rin,” she said when asked if she still believes on true love.

As part of the modus, Lola Aida was told by her online lover to send money (P200,000 as a processing fee), in exchange for 2 million pesos and a promise that he will marry her.

Fortunately, she was able to regain her senses from the so-called “online gayuma.”
