DENR is expected to complete the P389M rehabilitation project of Manila Bay this year.

According to DENR Usec. Benny Antiporda, their agency is hastening the completion of the project, which includes the controversial “white sand” beach in Manila Bay piled up with crushed dolomite rock.

“Minamadali na para sa July ay ma-open or matapos na ‘yan. Rest assured na ang taumbayan ay may makikitang malaking pagbabago,” he said.

It can be recalled that the project was criticized for costing millions, and coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic.

Malacañang had previously explained that the funds for the rehabilitation project could no longer be transferred because it had been approved for a long time and was not part of the Bayanihan Law for the COVID-19 response.
