Avril Lavigne had teamed up with Tony Hawk in her TikTok debut
Canadian singer Avril Lavigne had joined forces with a real-life “Sk8er Boi” legend Tony Hawk to mark her TikTok debut.
On Monday, Avril was lip-syncing her way through the 2002 hit in a video posted to her social media account. Set against a sunny beach backdrop, Avril was dressed in black shorts and a T-shirt, complete with a blue and red striped tie.
As the song got to the chorus, “He was a skater boy/She said, ‘See ya later, boy,'” the camera shifted from her to professional skateboarder Tony Hawk — now wearing the tie — as he performed stunts on a beachfront ramp.

Avril’s TikTok video was timed to coincide with “Go Skateboarding Day”, an annual celebration of the sport which first started in California in 2004.
Also, Hawk released a short clip to his Instagram page of Avril having a go at skating. The accompanying caption stated: “Breaking news: Sk8er Boi singer learns skating move from old Sk8ter Man.”
In the said video, Avril tentatively leaped off the ramp only to come off the board and fell on her hands and knees. But that didn’t deter her from getting straight back on and having another, moderately more successful, attempt.
Avril then commented on the said post: “Thanks for teaching me to drop in Sk8er Man… legend.”
